Director-Supply Chain Management

Tulsa, OK · Manufacturing

Provide leadership and strategic direction for the company's purchasing and materials department. Execute the development, implementation and improvement of processes and policies of the purchasing department.
 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Establish department objectives that align with the strategic direction of the company’s procurement, inventory control and asset recovery
  • Design, develop and implement policy recommendations and procedures consistent with established strategies
  • Direct and provide guidance to company buyers, materials management analysts, storekeepers and warehouse personnel engaged in material supply and inventory management activities
  • Provide leadership and guidance for buyers to improve leveraging opportunities for purchases of consumables, materials and services
  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers
  • Determine material supply and demand requirements; develop, implement and monitor performance goals and objectives; and optimize sourcing and materials practices to reduce costs and improve services
  • Evaluate and interpret information and documents related to national and global markets including, but not limited to:
    • Raw materials pricing and availability
    • Energy markets effects on production and delivery of products
    • Proven industry performance-enhancing strategies
    • Best practices affecting product selection
    • Emerging technologies and manufacturers
  • Research, verify and present performance metric reports for the following areas including, but not limited to:
    • Spend analysis
    • Vendor performance
    • Inventory investments
    • Turnover rates
    • Freight management
  • Direct fair, conflict-free vendor sourcing, bidding, negotiating, and awarding processes in working with suppliers and manufactures on procurement and supply of materials and equipment
  • Provide oversight to management and employees regarding purchasing and materials procedures and procurement of goods and services

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field and/or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job-related knowledge or experience:

Work Experience

  • Experience with and thorough knowledge of the management of purchasing and materials management
  • Experience monitoring, assessing and prioritizing material supply operations
  • Experience developing and implementing purchasing and materials policies and procedures along with strategies and oversight of performance indicators
  • Experience in use and application of purchasing, inventory, and/or materials management software
  • Experience with regulatory compliance as it pertains to equipment, assets, purchasing and inventory
  • Experience or training in the following areas:
    • Materials management, inventory control and/or distribution logistics
    • Purchasing functions and strategies
    • Inventory planning and coordination

     

  • Experience reading and interpreting operational results in comparison to industry best practices and change management operations related to material supply activities
  • Experience researching and preparing reports, agreements and correspondence
  • Experience interacting, advising, negotiating and communicating effectively

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: accounting entries and financial statements as it pertains to assets
  • Ability to: apply math, algebraic formulas and statistics applicable to position
  • Ability to: supervise, direct, and train employees; working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
  • Ability to: develop information, conduct meetings and make presentations to groups and individuals
  • Ability to: to interact effectively with internal and external business partners at all levels
  • Ability to: be an effective communicator and present across a range of audiences (large group presentations to one-on-one meetings)
